Ever get done with a race or long run, and feel almost worse than when you started? Sure, we all get that feeling of general wellness and accomplishment, but what about those days when muscle cramps, tightness, and soreness bog you down? For those of us without either the funds or inclination to find a massage therapist (and believe me, finding one who specializes in runners and isn’t booked through next year is tough), the Tiger Tail is a much needed post-run relief.
The key in how effective the Tiger Tail is lies in the simplicity of it’s design. It features a straight bar and two handles, much like a rolling pin. The bar is encased in a solid foam covering which smoothly and efficiently provides an effective deep tissue rub on your sorest muscles. What gives it an edge over the competition is that the construction doesn’t pull either hair or skin when used – the foam doesn’t catch in the slightest.
Use of the Tiger Tail is reported to aid aching muscles, providing a shortened recovery time with less pain. While I can’t vouch that it’s actually quicker (I think my duties to AGR don’t stretch as far as purposefully injuring myself), I can vouch for the fact that it makes aching muscles feel just that much better. Trust me, if it’s lying around, you’ll begin reaching for it after every run. It’s quick, easy to use, and just plain feels good. A bonus is that you can either roll your own muscles (it’s surprisingly easy to roll all of your leg muscles by holding the two neoprene handles), or have someone roll them for you.
At a killer price tag (less than $30 on numerous sites online), it’s easier to give it a spin than put it down once you actually buy it. I’d recommend this product to any serious runner or actively minded individual. It’s just too easy to use to pass up.
