With the temperatures starting to dip as the fall season comes into full swing for many parts of the country, wearing a long sleeve tee is all too common for many of us runners. I’ve been testing out the Saucony Revel Long Sleeve tech shirt over the past few months in temperatures between 40-60 to see how the shirt performs and how it fits.
The Saucony Revel Long Sleeve shirt is semi fitted, meaning it is not super snug, yet its not gangster baggy. I tested out a size medium Revel Long Sleeve shirt and the shirt fit well, but I wouldn’t want it to be any smaller. I am 6’0 and 173lbs. If you find yourself between sizes, I recommend sizing up.
As far as performance goes, the Revel Long Sleeve is made from a soft knit 100% polyester which helps take moisture away from the body which helps keep you from getting too sweaty. Since the fabric is thin and light, I noticed when I was sweating, the shirt dried quickly allowing me to enjoy my run and not focus on a wet sweaty shirt. This held true on both speed workouts and mid to long runs. One of the features that helps the shirt breath well is the mesh along the sides of the shirt. I tested out the bright orange color mesh along the sides because I like the visibility of this bright color in low light or dark mornings or evenings. For the runner that is worried about sun damage to the skin, the Revel Long Sleeve shirt has a 50+ UPF built into it. As someone who has found a small spec of skin cancer on my back in the past, I take this very serious. Runners are out in the sun a lot, so a little extra protection is good to have.
Overall, I have been very pleased with the performance and fit of the Saucony Revel Long Sleeve shirt and I give it my stamp of approval.
