For some people, running in the cold is refreshing and invigorating while for others cold is a dreaded 4 letter word. Whether you fall into the love or hate cold category, running in warmer clothing is almost essential for most runners. The Saucony T Grid RX Fleece was designed with cold weather running in mind. It is made from micro-fleece and is designed to keep you warm on cold winter days.
Material used
On the inside of the Saucony T Grid RX Fleece, the fleece is in a grid like pattern that helps with a small portion of the fleece off your skin which helps you from overheating. While fleece is breathable, it can still get plenty warm which makes you sweat. By creating small channels of air through the grid like pattern of the fleece, it allows your body to better regulate its heat. On the outside of the jacket, the fleece material is smooth providing a nice clean look.
Fit
The fit of the Saucony T Grid RX Fleece is semi fitted. It isn’t exactly a snug fit, but it’s not super baggy either. I found the jacket to be a little loose around the mid section which is nice if you are packing a little more weight in the mid section, but if you are a skinny runner, you might find it to be too roomy. I am 6’0 175lbs which puts me somewhere in between. I tested out a size medium and it was a little roomy in the mid section though I usually forgot about it 5 minutes into my run. One suggestion I would recommend to the designers is to use a small amount of spandex in the material so it will contract and expand a little as needed.
Storage
There are two side zippered side pockets that do a good job at storing gloves and running hats if you start to get too hot. This often happens to me while running, so having a few pockets comes in handy. The pockets bounced around on me since the jacket was a little roomy on me, so depending on whether you find yourself on the skinny or heavier side, you will get a different experience. There is a chest pocket that is big enough to fit a few gels or an iPod, but I find that it is too small to fit my iPhone 5. There is a hole on the inside of that pocket for headphones. On the inside of the jacket, there are two mesh pockets that can hold larger items. This is the same mesh used for the outside pockets. Some jackets use a creative process that sows the pocket fabric on the inside of the jacket to make another pocket.
Overall, I like the Saucony T Grid RX Fleece, but I feel there are better cold weather running jackets on the market with a better fit.
