Over the years, I have owned over 100 tech tees through races that I have run and shirts that I have tested. So when I say that the Outdoor Research Echo Duo Tee is my favorite tech tee of all time, please keep that in mind. I’m currently training for the Seattle Marathon among other race and between my running and my hiking 2-3 times a week; I go through a lot of tech tees. If it were up to me, I would love to be able to wear the Echo Duo Tee on every activity, but the shirt has to go in the wash from time to time and the people in my running groups and the people at the gym might start looking at me funny.
What sets the Outdoor Research Echo Duo Tee apart from any other tech tees I have worn is comfort and weight. I have worn many lightweight tech tees in the past and they were nowhere near as comfortable as the Echo Duo Tee. Now you would think that all tech tees would weigh the same, but I found the OR Echo Duo to be significantly lighter, making it feel like I am wearing nothing at all. And while I used to prefer to not wear a shirt while running or hiking on hot sunny days, a few skin scares have changed my habits. One thing that is nice about the Echo Duo Tee is that it has a 15UPF integrated into the shirt, so it allows for some sun protection. If I had one suggestion for round 2 on this tech tee, it would be to raise the UPF to 25 or 30.
I’m 6’0 tall and 178lbs and I found that a size medium fits me perfect. It’s not too baggy, nor do I feel like I am wearing a compression tee shirt. The seams on the Echo Duo are flat locked, meaning they aren’t going to create friction points between your skin and the shirt. The shirt is constructed of small squares giving the shirt a subtle design element and if you find yourself running after dark, there is a reflective OR symbol on the front and 3 horizontal reflective stripes near the neck line on the back. To keep your pits from stinking, the Echo Duo Tee has Polygiene incorporated into the tech tee which in simple terms uses silver salt to keep the bacteria that causes smells to grow. This shirt is a steal for such a high quality shirt that you will be wearing for many years to come. Great work Outdoor Research on a fantastic product!
