The North Face’s Flight Series Warp Knit Dual Shorts was designed in collaboration with their team athletes, with the key focus idea being, “Run no matter what”. The Flight series collection incorporates FuseForm engineering, warp knit fabrication and FlashDry technology to keep runners cool, dry and focused on one thing: their run.
I was giving the opportunity to test out the Warp Knit Dual Shorts from the collection. They are comprised of a quick-drying woven 5.5-inch outer running short paired with a ventilated, stitch-free 10-inch inner compression short. Let’s dive in and check out the details.

The North Face Flight Series Warp Knit Dual Shorts
As stated above the Flight Series Warp Knit Shorts consist of a 5.5 inch outer running short built with the North Face’s FlashDry fabrics. The outer short is incredibly light weight and breathable. The fabric is engineered to accelerate the removal of moisture from the skin and speed up evaporative drying. FlashDry fabrics enable you to stay drier, more comfortable and perform longer in a wide range of weather conditions and environments. FlashDry doesn’t add weight or bulk and never washes or wears out.

The inner shorts are a light weight stitch-free 10-inch compression short. The inner shorts sport many superb features that make them extremely comfortable. First off is the compression, which holds everything in place. Second is the stitch free design, that ensures you will not end up with any unnecessary rubbing or chaffing. With this stitch free design comes the option of trimming the compression shorts to a shorter length, without the worry that they will unravel, should you find that they are to long. The third feature is the wicking ability of the inner liner, it quickly pulls moisture to the surface of the short for evaporation. And last but not least is the strategically placed ventilation lines that allow for the perfect amount of air flow to help keep you cool on the warmer runs.

The North Face Flight Series Warp Knit Dual Shorts have a wider elastic band that was skillfully crafted to provide the ideal comfort, not too tight and not to loose. The waist band does have a flat draw string should the need arise to cinch the shorts a bit tighter.

The rear of the shorts have three stash pockets, two unsecured and one secured zipper pocket. The pockets are welded into the rear of the garment just below the waistband. If the items that are stashed in these pockets are kept to a minimum weight; keys, ID, small to medium sized smartphone, they will keep tight against the lower back and be bounce-free.

Fit and Feel
The North Face Flight Series Warp Knit Dual Shorts are unique in that they offer a compression boxer brief instead of just a breathable brief. I personally prefer the boxer over the the traditional brief, I find that wearing the longer length boxer eliminates chaffing, hot spots or any unwanted rubbing. I also think that the support from the boxer is well, more supportive. The compression boxer on the Flight Series were optimally supportive and offered up excellent mobility in every direction. As for sizing the shorts were spot on, I normally wear a medium and the medium fit perfectly.
These shorts are top notch in terms of temperature regulation, the compression layer was able to pull the moisture away from body on fast and warm runs, allowing me to stay dry and comfortable and enjoy the run rather than worry about what I was wearing. These have become my go to shorts for just about every run.
The rear pockets work well for gels, keys, wallet or phone, the zippered pocket provides the confidence that your important items will stay put. With the pockets riding just below the small of the back and having just enough elasticity, they provide a bounce free ride, as long as you aren’t carrying a phablet (giant smartphone).
Overall the shorts are extremely comfortable, breathable and lightweight. I loved running in the North Face Flight Series Warp Knit Dual Shorts and having a greater amount of support all around. I would highly recommend these shorts to anyone looking for a supportive, ultralight, breathable short that will allow you to log miles in extreme comfort.

Final Thoughts on the Flight Series Warp Knit Dual Shorts
The North Face Flight Series Warp Knit Dual Shorts are priced high for a pair of shorts. Had I not tried these, I don’t think that I would ever splurge on such an expensive pair. But I can say without a doubt that these are the most comfortable and high performing pair of shorts that I have ever worn. Are they worth the price tag? Once you wear them, the answer is yes and if North Face quality has anything to say about it, the longevity will be there, making these worth everything single penny.
