New Balance Getback Racer Tank Review
The New Balance Getback Racer Tank is a breathable, quick-drying, athletic tank featuring mesh insets, a built in bra, and a rear stow pocket. From the description, the Getback Racer Tank could be any women’s athletic tank on the market, but the attention to detail and thoughtful design makes the Getback Racer Tank stand out from the pack.
I own only one other athletic tank with a built in bra. For my taste and build, a separate bra is more comfortable and practical. Built in bra plus sports bra is generally too bulky, so I tend to buy thin single layer tanks. So, I was pleasantly surprised with how supportive the Getback Racer Tank was. The built in bra was more structured than a shelf bra, which was nice for support and aesthetic purposes. It isn’t marketed as high-impact support and that was accurate. I would definitely not wear it for a long run, but it was 100% fine on its own for strength training, yoga, and other lower-impact activities. Layering a full-support bra under it wasn’t bulky or uncomfortable for running, cycling, or higher impact activities.
Another feature that showed that the Getback Racer Tank was designed for functionality is the envelope back pocket. Not only was it a perfect size for keys, an energy gel or two, or a credit card or ID, it was in the perfect location. It wasn’t placed in the lowest part of the tank, it was a few inches from the back hem and still very accessible. I really appreciated this when I wore it with shorts or tights that had a back pocket because that way the two pockets didn’t overlap causing a big bulge in one area.
The Getback Racer Tank is a practical, comfortable, and durable tank primarily designed for running, but great for hiking, cycling, fitness classes, yoga and more. It may have even renewed my hope in tanks with built in bras.
The Getback Racer Tank comes in bright colors that change seasonally and, for what you get is reasonably priced at $47.99, but can be found cheaper on sale.
