Saucony Run Lux II Running Shorts Review

There are a million varieties of running shorts on market these days and the differences between each pair can be miniscule and tough to tell without actually putting them on. The Saucony Run Lux II running shorts are a pretty traditional running short with a lightweight, quick-drying material, interior liner, drawstring waist, and small stow pocket, but, for me the quality and small details made the difference.

As someone who has almost exclusively switched to capri tights even on hot days, finding a pair of shorts that didn’t drive me crazy during a run was a big step. The Lux II shorts have a few features that I found particularly noticeable – the material, the liner, and the pocket location.

The outer material of the Lux II shorts is an extremely lightweight material with a bit of stretch. At first the weight and stretch of the material made me a bit weary because it seemed clingy and flimsy, but it was anything but. While running the material didn’t cling or ride up at all and it dried very quickly.

Running short liners can be hit or miss and sometimes you don’t find out their a miss until it is too late. The Lux II liners are made of a super soft, lightweight material and, for my body type, were cut perfectly. The legs don’t have a ton of elastic that makes them pinch or rub, the sizing perfectly covered my bum without bunching, and the material stayed dry keeping me from feeling damp even on the car ride home from a sweaty run.
I also really appreciated the stow pocket being offset to one side and perfectly angled for easy accessibility. Getting fuel out of the pocket located on the upper right side was so much easier than getting something out of a centered pocket while on the move. This really shows that Saucony has put in the time to understand what helps runners be efficient.
The Lux II fit true to size. I’m a pretty standard size 4 and was comfortable in the small shorts. They have a lower waist than some other popular shorts and a 4.5 inch inseam which is a bit longer than some shorts, but didn’t feel that long.

If you’re looking for a comfortable, lightweight running short that keeps you dry and odor free give the Saucony Lux II a try. The Run Lux II comes in a variety of colors and patterns for both women and men.
