The UA ColdGear Hood utilizes double sided fabric, known as ColdGear technology, to provide excellent wicking to keep you warm and dry. The ColdGear Hood has UA’s well-known compression fit, thanks to a polyester and elastane, to help support muscles and increase circulation and therefore performance. We tested the ColdGear Hood as a base layer on alpine snow shoes and running at 30-40 degree temperatures. Tester’s enjoyed the raglan arms and thumb holes that keep your arms warm while offering a full range-of-motion. The ColdGear has a hood with a slit in the back of it to fit your ponytail in so that the hood can be pulled up and completely cover your ears. We also liked the added body length which is great to keep out drafts and snow while on the slopes or on a run. The top shoulders are seem free which means no rubbing if worn with a pack. If you are unfamiliar with the compression fit, it may take some getting used to at first, as the top will feel to small at the start. The technology is designed on this close-knit fit and their size guidelines seem to run one size smaller than most people feel comfortable wearing, so size up one for this piece.
