Tifosi Dolomite 2.0
In 2003, Tifosi set out to create an eyewear brand that stood for quality, style, function, and value. With the support and passion of their partners and customers, Tifosi has grown to become a recognized, relevant, and trusted brand in cycling, running, outdoor and golf. Their mission is to provide technically advanced eyewear to enthusiasts of all sports and outdoor activities.
I was given the chance to take the Tifosi Dolomite 2.o sunglasses for a test run. Let’s jump in and take a closer look to see if the Dolomite’s have what it takes to be a runners’ sunglasses.
Frame
The frame of the Dolomite 2.0 is made from Grilamid TR-90, which is a homopolyamide nylon characterized by an extremely high alternative bending strength, low density, and high resistance to chemical and UV damage. Which basically translates to a flexible but essentially indestructible frame. The frame design merges lightweight comfort with a clear field of vision.

Grilamid TR-90 Frame
The ear and nose pieces are made up of a hydrophilic rubber which increases its grip strength the more you sweat. The rubber nose pieces on the Tifosi Dolomite 2.0 provided a secure and comfortable fit that stayed in place while cruising down the trails. The rubberized temples held snug and didn’t create any uncomfortable hotspots, even when I wore them for hours on end. With the adjustability of the nose and temple pads these frames are easily adapted to different size faces, ensuring that you’ll get the customized fit you are looking for.

Lenses
The lenses included with the Dolomite 2.0’s are the Red Fototec lens that have microscopic photochromic particles embedded in them. Which in turn reacts to the Sun’s UV rays adapting to your environment, transmitting less light to your eye when it’s more sunny and transmitting more light as the day becomes night, providing an ideal moment-to-moment tint.

High Speed Red Fototec Lens View
The red fototec tint provided superior coverage with fantastic self adjusting contrast that helped delineate trail abnormalities. All the holes, roots and rocks popped on the trail, allowing more confidence in any daylight situation, even on the gnarliest of trails. While it is extremely easy to swap lenses, the red lens worked so well in nearly all lighting conditions that the only time I would have considered a swap would have been for an early morning pre-dawn run.

Red Fototec Interchangeable Lenses
Most Sunglass lenses are notorious for fogging up when you start to really push the pace. And while no pair of glasses is perfect, I was pleasantly surprised with the Dolomites’ resistance to fogging. The only time I experienced a steamed up lens was when I would pause after a hard climb to catch my breath. The two vents on each lens, one on top and one on the bottom, are the perfect size and in the right location to maintain enough air circulation, keeping the lens clear regardless of how much you’re sweating.
