Now that the sun is starting to shine through the clouds again, I’ve come to realize just how important a quality pair of sunglasses can be! Colorado has had some major weather changes this spring with one day being 71 degrees and sunny, the next 37 degrees and raining or snowing, and the next 50 degrees and cloudy! It’s been the never ending cycle lately. With the weather mood changes, I’m so glad I’ve had my XX2i USA1 Pro Racing Sunglasses in 3 different lens options! USA1 Pro Racing Sunglasses Initial Thoughts

I received the XX2i Optics USA1 Pro Racing Sunglasses in White Gloss, Full Rim Frame with 3 included lenses. I received the blue flash, orange, and clear lens. The sunglasses came in a nice zippered tank protector case with storage for the 2 other lenses when not in use, and a soft microfiber carrying bag. As extras I also received 2 microfiber lens pouches, a sunglass strap, a screwdriver, and 2 ear & nose pad color change out options in red & blue. It’s always nice to have one frame with a variety of different lenses and color options to change it up every now and then.

The Frame

The XX2i Optic USA1 Pro Racing Sunglasses came in a white gloss color which at first I thought was a little bold, but the second I put them on I thought otherwise. I have a small and round face so finding glasses that fit well can be challengin. At first I thought the frames looked a little large, but with anything you get used to it and now they don’t feel large at all. The nose pad is adjustable so I can get the perfect fit on my face. It can just be pushed in or out depending on the fit you want. I felt the nosepiece stayed in place very well. Even after long runs or rides the nose pad didn’t lose its shape so my glasses always stayed in place. It is a nice soft rubber, so it was very comfortable and didn’t slide around while sweat was dripping down my face.

The sides of the sunglasses I feel bow out a little bit making them very comfortable for longer wear. The soft rubber temple tips put just enough pressure behind my ears to keep the sunglasses in place, but aren’t tight so you get a headache from the pressure. The temple tips are also adjustable, so no matter your head shape you can alter the nose pad and temple tips to completely fit to your face! I really love this feature about the XX2i Optics USA1 Pro Racing Sunglasses.

The sunglasses are Unisex so no matter if your face is small like mine or medium like my husbands, we were both able to enjoy the glasses. I found mine missing from their case almost every time I wanted to use them. My husband is constantly stealing them from me for his long bike rides. We both have completely different facial structures and it’s so easy to shape them back to my face after he has had them. I feel like the frame looks really good on his medium sized face. As stated previously they may be just a little big looking on my smaller face. XX2i Optics states that the USA1 Frame is their best frame for small faces. The weight of the USA1 Pro Racing Sunglasses is a mere 28.5 frame which is pretty light making them perfect for long outdoor adventures.

The Lens

It’s all about the lens with sunglasses right! A lens is what can make your outdoor adventure enjoyable or miserable. The XX2i Optics USA1 Pro Racing Sunglasses comes with 3 different lens options: blue flash, orange, and clear. With the Colorado weather changing every 5 minutes 3 lens options is a must! I use the clear when it’s raining, orange when it’s cloudy, and blue flash when the sun is shining bright. The lenses are very clear and resist scratches quite well. I’ve had mine for over a month and they have been dropped a few times and there isn’t a scratch on the lens or the frame. When staring into the sun the blue flash lens did an excellent job of blocking the rays. I didn’t have to squint or look away.

My favorite lens was the orange. With the clouds rolling in the past month, I’ve used the orange lens quite frequently and I’m very impressed with the clarity in low light conditions. The orange really brightens up the lighting making it a lot easier to see on the trails while running or on the road while biking. Colorado typically is very dry but with all this spring rain we’ve had, its been rather humid. All of the lenses resisted fogging fairly well. As far as rain goes, the clear lens wiped off well and didn’t smear or fog making running in the rain an enjoyable experience. The lens and frame are big enough that they cover your eyes well and protect them from getting unwanted debris in them.

Swapping Lenses

I’ve never had interchangeable lenses with full frame sunglasses. I was a little worried I would bust the lenses while changing them out. XX2i Optics made changing lenses a breeze….for my husband….sometimes I struggle a little bit as I’m still afraid of breaking them. To swap the lenses you simply push the lens out from the inside of the frame with both thumbs. I tend to pull the bottom of the frame down a bit while pushing the frame out. I push the lens out with both thumbs on the bottom of the lens. It took me a few times, but now I’m pretty proficient at it. Practice makes perfect! You can put the new lens in from either the front or back. I put the bottom of the lens in first from the back of the frame and push the rest in.

XX2i Optics has a variety of different lens options for the USA1 Pro Racing Sunglasses. I’m used to polarized lenses so I was a little disappointed that I didn’t receive the polarized lens option. I feel that polarized lenses open my eyes up to a whole new dimension. Not to fret, if you feel the same way, you can purchase a polarized lens for $49.99. All other lens options are only $29.99 making buying new lenses very reasonable!

If you are not a contact wearer and depend on your prescription glasses, XX2i Optics gives you the option of sending them your prescription. Their Rx Manager will contact you to discuss your lens and frame options. Yet another amazing feature of XX2i Optics!

XX2i Optics has made their sunglasses with a Lifetime Warranty! According to their website there are no questions asked, you break or scratch them, send them back to be replaced for a nominal shipping and handling fee. I’m not sure about you but we go through sunglasses pretty quickly in our household. Lenses are always breaking between the two of us, so having a Lifetime Warranty is huge!

XX2i Optics also has a 365 day return policy! There are not many companies out there with that amazing of a return policy! XX2i Optics really stand behind their product and I don’t believe you’ll be returning them, but it’s a great option to have if you are debating on purchasing a pair of glasses.
