Review: Asics Gel Trabuco 12 WR
The Asics GEL Trabuco 12 WR trail running shoes are a good performer on fire roads and an even better performer on more technical trails. At first thought, we were thinking this might just be another shoe that is based off of a road shoe with the addition of some earthy and flashy colors. Fortunately, we were completely wrong. We tested these shoes on some extremely rugged conditions where there were steep climbs as well as descents. The traction system the Gel Trabuco has helped us as the lugs are placed for climbing under the toe box and placed under the heal for downhill running. The Asics Gel Trabuco gives you a nice ride, similar to a road running shoe, but a little more stiff. These shoes are meant for the neutral runner as they don’t have a ton of support in the mid-foot. The shoes lack a little bit of protection in the toe which we like to see as we like to keep our toes intact on the rocky trails, but luckily for our testers, they didn’t run into any rocks. Overall, we see this shoe as a middle of the road/trail for trail runners as it is a good performer for most, but those of you hardcore trail runners might be looking for a little more.
