Diadora Vigore V

After a long stretch of winter, I finally got a chance to put some miles into the Diadora Vigore V. As the snow started melting and the paved trails began clearing up, I was excited to get outside again and try a new pair of shoes.

I was already familiar with Diadora because I had previously run in the Gara Carbon 2 and really enjoyed that shoe. It felt fast, lightweight, and responsive, so I was curious to see how one of their stability shoes would compare.

Over the last month I ran several times a week in the Vigore V on paved paths, sidewalks, and bike trails. Most of my miles were steady daily runs rather than speed workouts. After spending some time with them, I got a good sense of how they feel and what type of runner they work best for.

First Impressions and Design of the Diadora Vigore V

Right out of the box, the Vigore V feels solid and well built. It’s clearly designed as a stability shoe, and the tall midsole immediately stands out. The shoe has a 39 mm heel stack and 28 mm forefoot stack with a 10 mm drop. This creates a high level of cushioning while still maintaining a traditional running shoe geometry.

Diadora Vigore V Upper

The pair I tested comes in the Buttercream / Minced Quince colorway. The upper has a soft cream-colored base that gives the shoe a clean and simple look. Bright yellow-green accents appear throughout the midsole and branding, which adds a bold contrast against the lighter upper. The color combination gives the shoe a fresh and energetic look without feeling overly flashy.

The upper uses engineered mesh with microfiber details and reflective elements for visibility. The mesh feels structured enough to hold the foot in place while still allowing airflow.

One detail I appreciated is the uni-tongue construction, which connects the tongue to the upper and helps keep it centered during runs. Small details like this make the shoe feel secure without needing excessive padding.

Diadora Vigore V Fit and Comfort

The Vigore V fits true to size for me. The midfoot feels snug and secure, while the heel cup holds the back of the foot in place without creating pressure points.

The toe box tapers slightly compared to some wider shoes, but after a couple of runs it felt comfortable and natural. I never experienced rubbing or hot spots during my runs.

Diadora Vigore V Fit

The interior of the shoe feels comfortable thanks to the padded collar and lining. The removable insole adds a bit of extra cushioning underfoot.

Even though the shoe weighs around 11 ounces, it doesn’t feel overly heavy while running. The weight makes sense considering the amount of cushioning and stability features built into the midsole.

Stability and Midsole Performance

The biggest highlight of the Vigore V is the midsole design. Diadora built the shoe around Blushield N2 technology, which aims to reduce uneven pressure across the foot and help control overpronation when it occurs.

The midsole combines EVA foam with ANIMA N2, a supercritical compound designed to increase responsiveness and energy return.

During my runs, the midsole felt firm but lively. The cushioning absorbs impact well on pavement while still giving a noticeable rebound when pushing off.

Diadora Vigore V Midsole

One interesting part of the design is the asymmetrical midsole structure. It provides extra support along the medial side of the foot, helping guide the stride when needed. The support feels subtle rather than intrusive. Instead of forcing your foot into a rigid position, the shoe seems to stabilize the stride naturally.

Compared to the Gara Carbon 2, the Vigore V feels more controlled and grounded. The Gara Carbon 2 focuses on speed and efficiency, while the Vigore V prioritizes stability and comfort for everyday training.

Running on Paved Trails

Most of my miles in the Vigore V were on paved trails and sidewalks. That’s where the shoe really feels at home.

The tall stack height provides plenty of cushioning for repeated pavement miles, and the midsole keeps each step feeling protected. The shoe feels particularly comfortable during steady runs where maintaining a consistent rhythm matters more than speed.

Diadora Vigore V Testing

The outsole uses a softer rubber in the forefoot and a more wear-resistant compound in the heel. This setup provides grip while also helping the shoe last longer in high-wear areas.

Even on damp pavement the traction felt good. I never noticed slipping or instability during runs.

Durability of the Diadora Vigore V After a Month

After about a month of running in the Vigore V, the shoes still look almost new.

The engineered mesh upper has held up well with no signs of tearing or stretching. The outsole also shows very little wear, especially around the heel where many shoes start to break down first.

Diadora Vigore V Outsole

The midsole hasn’t lost any of its firmness or responsiveness either. The cushioning still feels consistent from the first run to the most recent one.

Based on how they’ve held up so far, these look like shoes that should last through many more miles of daily training.

The Verdict on the Diadora Vigore V

After spending a month running in the Diadora Vigore V, I came away impressed with how balanced the shoe feels. It offers a combination of stability, cushioning, and responsiveness that works well for everyday runs on pavement.

The shoe feels especially comfortable during steady training miles when you want support and protection without sacrificing energy return.

The Vigore V currently retails for around $190, which places it in the premium category of stability running shoes. Considering the technology in the midsole and the overall build quality, the price feels reasonable. Diadora offers several color options, including the Buttercream / Minced Quince pair I tested along with darker and more traditional color combinations.

For runners looking for a stability shoe that combines high cushioning with a responsive ride, the Vigore V is definitely worth considering. If you want to learn more about the shoe or check out the available styles, you can find additional information by visiting Diadora’s website.
