Zach's been testing gear with Active Gear Review since day one of the site, and just generally loves being outside doing any outdoor activity. He and his wife race year round, prefer long distance endurance events, and have raced marathons in multiple states nationwide. Recently, Zach added triathlons to his list of endeavors, and has competed in all distances up to a half iron. He has two young boys who are full of energy and get into all sorts of trouble on a regular basis - just like him.

Zach, Adam B here again to weigh in on the PT-1000, and I’m right with you. These are the Mack Truck or Hummer H1 of running shoes. These remind me more of super-solid hiking boots than they do most traditional running shoes, and my initial expectation was that they would be so heavy-feeling and inflexible that I would hate the PT-1000. However, I was impressed that they felt solid on road, but definitely not cushy, and very supportive on the non-technical trails I tested them on. I too, have no doubt these could last 1000 miles- they are built tough like no other shoe I’ve tested. I think they are the perfect choice for heavier runners who have issues with shoes breaking down quickly. See you on the trail!
