It used to be slim pickings for the male runner that didn’t want to wear the shorter running shorts. Today, there are a number of running shorts that go longer than the standard short running short. The North Face GTD Running Short has between a 5,7, and 9 inch inseam depending on size. 5-Small, 7-Medium, 9-Large. I tested out the medium size as I wear a 32 sized waist. I personally don’t mind a 5 inch inseam, but anything shorter and I feel like I am blinding people with my white thighs, and I am also not fast enough to wear such short shorts. Therefor a 7 inch inseam was just fine. Below, I will be going over the fit, performance, and function of The North Face GTD Running Shorts.
Fit
As I mentioned above the inseam of the GTD short varies on the size of the waist. In a pair of running shorts, even the slightest miscalculation by the designer can lead to a day of pain for a runner. After running in the GTD Running Shorts for a number of runs both long and short, I found the line to fit adequately with no abnormal chaffing. The thighs of the shorts were just right as they allowed enough room for movement and they weren’t too snug.
Performance
As a pair of running shorts is not too complicated as far as performance, I will be short and to the point. The nylon in The North Face GTD Running Shorts was very light and the mesh side made for great ventilation. The liner was just right, not too snug nor not too baggy.
Function
I used these shorts primarily for trail and road running, but I did take these out for a hike and they performed just fine. I also wore them at the gym and they held up just fine. At their price tag, I think The North Face GTD Running Shorts are a good deal and they will last you many years to come.
