Knockaround Sunglasses Review: Mary Janes and Mai Tais

When I first heard about Knockaround sunglasses, I was drawn to the brand’s fun style and affordable price point. I decided to try two very different pairs, the Mary Janes in black on black and the Mai Tais in Strawberry Cake Pop. Both pairs immediately caught my attention for different reasons: one sleek and classic, the other playful and bold.

The Mary Janes: Black on Black Style

Knockaround Mary Jane Sunglasses Review

The Mary Janes are everything I love about a timeless pair of sunglasses. The matte black frame paired with polarized black lenses gives them a clean, no-fuss look that really does go with everything. I’ve worn them to work, on walks around the neighborhood, and even just running errands, and they always feel stylish without trying too hard.

The fit is slim and works well for medium to small face shapes, which can sometimes be tricky to find. They’re also surprisingly durable, I’ve tossed them in my purse during a ball game, worn them while working in the yard, and even accidentally dropped them once without a scratch. The impact-resistant lenses and UV400 protection give me confidence that these aren’t just stylish, but also functional.

The Mai Tais: Summer Fun in a Pair of Shades

On the other end of the spectrum, the Mai Tais in Strawberry Cake Pop are all about fun. The strawberry cream fronts paired with berry tortoise arms and pink polarized lenses instantly put me in a summer mood. They strike the perfect balance between retro and playful, making them an easy choice for the beach, pool days, or any warm-weather outing.

I wore them to the lake with my family and received more than one compliment on the unique style. The polarized pink lenses give the world a softer, rose-colored glow, which made lounging in the sun feel even more relaxing. Just like the Mary Janes, they come with full UV400 protection and impact-resistant lenses, so I never worry about durability when I’m chasing the kids or packing up gear after a long day outside. I did notice that the lighter pink lenses don’t block out as much sunlight as the darker Mary Jane lenses, but they still provided plenty of coverage and kept my eyes comfortable in bright conditions.

Knockaround Sunglasses Everyday Use

Testing Knockaround Sunglasses
What I really like about Knockaround sunglasses is how versatile they are. The Mary Janes are my go-to when I want something subtle and classic, while the Mai Tais are the pair I reach for when I want a pop of color and personality. Both come with microfiber cleaning pouches, which makes it easy to keep them scratch-free.

I also appreciate that Knockaround really pays attention to comfort. Both pairs fit securely, never sliding down my nose, and they’re lightweight enough to wear all day without any irritation. I especially like that they don’t have protruding nose pieces, which is a big plus for anyone with longer hair. When I push the glasses up on top of my head, they stay put without snagging or getting tangled.

Beyond everyday errands and outings, I’ve really put these sunglasses to the test. I’ve worn them while driving, at the ball field, relaxing at the beach on Lake Michigan, swimming at a campground pond, biking, taking walks around the campground, hanging out by the campsite, and even kayaking. No matter the activity, they’ve stayed comfortable and protected my eyes, all while looking great.

Verdict on Knockaround Sunglasses

Knockaround Sunglasses Versatility
After testing both styles, I can say Knockaround delivers on both quality and style. The Mary Janes give me a sleek, everyday option that matches anything, while the Mai Tais bring a playful vibe that makes summer feel even better. Both pairs are durable, polarized, and provide full UV400 protection, which makes them just as functional as they are stylish. Prices typically start at around $35–$45, which is incredibly reasonable for polarized sunglasses.
