Gordini Stash Lite Touch Mitt Review

As the winter season approaches, for many it is time to get out the cold weather running gear such as gloves and mittens. For others, myself included, who have perpetually cold hands in all seasons, we keep a pair of running gloves or mittens readily accessible for all seasons. The Gordini Stash Lite Touch Mitt has been my go to mitten for cold weather running, shoulder season hiking, and as a “just in case” mitten for high-country summer trail runs.

Gordini Stash Lite Touch Mitt Usability and Features

I have put the Gordini Stash Lite Touch Mitt to the test on trail runs of 25 miles or more, uber cold winter runs, underneath ski mittens for added warmth on the slopes, and as around town mittens. I have had them for just under a year and they are hands down my favorite mitten. For starters, The Gordini Stash Lite Touch Mitt is incredibly light-weight and highly portable due to their compact size and the ability to stash the mitten away into its’ own cuff, which doubles as a mini stuff sack.  When tucked away the outer of the mitten is protected and the Stash Lite Touch Mitt fits easily in your hand.

The Gordini Stash Lite Touch Mitt features 50G silk insulation, which helps to keep the mitten light weight. The insulation will not disappoint in the warmth department either. With my cold hands, I found these mittens warm enough while running in temperatures down to 20-25F. For colder temps I added a lightweight wicking glove for extra insulation. If your hands have a tendency to sweat and then freeze, the Hydrowick microdenier liner does an excellent job of preventing dampening in the inside. If the weather turns wet, the Gordini Stash Lite Touch Mitt has ripstop nylon to help repel the precipitation and keep your hands toasty.

The Gordini Stash Lite Touch Mitt features a silicon grip palm to and is touch screen capable, including the thumb. When it comes to cold weather, I don’t typically take my phone out but this is an important feature for some.

Longevity of the Gordini Stash Lite Touch Mitt

After nearly a year of regular use, the silicon grip palm has worn away quite a bit (as you can see in the photo). The palm still provides plenty of grip when used for driving, but nothing like when I first got them. I used them for driving all last winter due to the incredible stickiness that it provided on a cold leather steering wheel. This use probably contributed to the wear and these were obviously not designed as a driving mitten, whoops!

The ripstop nylon still looks great and has survived multiple episodes of my dog biting and carrying them around. Washing the Gordini Stash Lite Touch Mitt was a cinch and they look like new. The insulation ended up packing down a bit, so they feel less fluffy than they used too, yet deliver the same amount of warmth. Overall, the Gordini Stash Lite Touch Mitt is a great deal for $35. They are available in size small to extra large, as well as a variety of colors besides boring black.
