Helly Hansen Mission Ski Jacket Review

Niels Oomkes

I am a multi-sport endurance athlete, and love to get out into the great outdoors to push the body to its limit. Most of my weekend expeditions, adventures, trips, or vacations are planned around running, biking, snowshoeing, camping, or anything else that will allow me to enjoy nature's exquisite beauty.

Recently I filed a warranty claim about a Helly Hansen jacket. The white coating behind the lining felling off like dandruff. The customer service staffs responded for not covering the lifetime warranty for the issue. I have few other old water resistant or wind jackets of other brands. I don’t have issues with them. #hellyhansen product lifetime warranty misleads customers. Extremely disappointed about their services and quality of products.“Hello,

Thank you for your email. After reviewing your claim, it has been determined that the lifetime of your product has been exceeded. The issue that you are experiencing is called ‘delamination’, which means that the waterproof membrane has disintegrated. This tends to happen due to the nature of the material after it ages over a long period of time (10+ years), and not due to a manufacturer’s defect (your item is 12 years old).  Unfortunately, this cannot be repaired.

    Best regards,
    Helly Hansen Customer Care Team”

Sorry to hear about your experience. I’ve had my Mission jacket for about 7+ years now, and it seems fine. It doesn’t see too much action in any particular winter (maybe a dozen times or so). Obviously, I can’t speak to your situation and the HH customer service experience, but we appreciate you providing feedback. Warm Regards,
