Pearl Izumi Alpine Elite Pant Review
Whether running, snowshoeing, Nordic or backcountry skiing, or hiking, the Elite Alpine Pant will keep you warm from start to finish. The P.R.O. Softshell and Cocona front panels offer a great buffer from the wind but doesn’t constrict movement in the legs. The extra coverage on the knee is awesome for those whose knees ache in the cold weather like mine do. That little bit is all I needed to keep the aches away. The loose fit made layering easy with a pair of long underwear on super cold days. The multiple zip vents on the upper legs allow for great heat dispersion. I found the vents to be especially great for those days when you start your workout early but then end in the heat of the day.
A moisture transfer layer on the back also helps regulate temperature. The material also does a great job of repelling snow kick back from snowshoeing and skiing. I tested the pants during a rain/snow mix and they stayed dry for over an hour. The ankle zippers make it easy to put on snowshoes, Nordic ski boots or any high ankle hiking boots or running shoes. Two Zipper pockets allow you to warm up your hands or store gels, keys or other essentials. The pants are easy to care for by washing with a mild detergent and hanging dry or if you need them quickly, drying them on low. If you are looking for a great all around pant for multiple seasons and multiple uses check out the Alpine Elite.
The Alpine Elite Pant retails for $140. Check out Pearl’s website at: pearlizumi.com
