super.natural base layer review
Initial thoughts on the super.natural base layers
The super.natural base layer top and tights are a welcome addition to my winter apparel selection. Both are fantastic for my active lifestyle as well as a comfortable, casual, and warm addition.
The shirt is a long sleeved contemporary top that I was able to wear under vests, sweaters, fleeces, coats or even by itself. The combined natural Merino wool and technical fibers felt great against my skin. The Merino wool added the extra benefit of regulating my body temperature with the breathable fibers pulling moisture away from the skin so it evaporated quickly.
The super.natural base layer tights are form fitting and meant to be worn underneath pants to stay warm and dry. They are great for wearing under ski pants, hiking pants and as a base layer while camping. I liked them so much, I wore the base tights around the house as a comfy go-to for laying on the couch watching movies. The Merino wool provides warmth with soft comfort. The technical fibers provided strength and durability as well as elasticity around some of the curvier parts of my body.
Technical Features for the super.natural base layer long sleeve top and tights
The super.natural base layer fabric is a contact stretch jersey 175. The technical features are a combination of 48% natural Merino wool, 48% polyester and 4% lycra. The combination of the engineered natural and technical fibers, produces a very soft and naturally comfortable product. Right away when I put on my super.natural base layer top and tights they felt super soft against my skin.
The super.natural base layer long sleeved top was form fitting along my torso extending down to mid hip with lengthened sleeves. The strength and durability of the technical fibers also had great elasticity. This was especially seen in the sleeves. When completely stretched out they made their way to the middle of my hands, but also easily retracted back to my wrists. In addition, I liked the sporty feature of the super.natural logo ‘SN’ on the left sleeve.
The super.natural base layer tights have an elastic black waist band and the technical fibers provided elasticity which accommodated my curvier hips and behind. I would tug the fabric to make my tights fit snug in all the right areas, and that’s where I noticed the strength and durability of the fabric.
Both maintained their shape, form, and color after multiple machine washes. No shrinkage for either when washed in cold water and dried with low heat. The only thing that is starting to fade/peal is the inner tag and logo. Not indicative of the shirt’s quality, but more so of the stamp/logo.
I definitely noticed that the wicking fibers and natural merino wool produced less moisture and sweat on my skin. I wore the super.natural base layer long sleeved top on numerous occasions. I hiked in them as a base layer with a sweater and thermal vest over top to start with in cooler temperatures. No noticeable sweat even though I was pretty warm. After taking off the sweater and vest during the same hike I was comfortable, dry without sweat marks on my long sleeved top and odor free. The thermo regulation kept my body from overheating or cooling too rapidly. I also went running in the long sleeved top, and noticed the same thermo regulation when I took my fleece off after running 3 miles, then ran an additional 3 in just my long sleeved top. Minimal sweat was seen on my top and again, I was odor free once again. I have also worn the top for casual outings or while traveling. It’s a very simple classy look on top of the amazing features.
I wore the base layer tights while hiking and camping. They are lightweight and form fitting tights. The tights were very soft and comfortable. I tend to run cold and typically layer. The thermo regulation from the Merino wool kept my body at an appropriate and desired temperature. The super.natural base tight provided me with that comfy base layer.
Both the top and tights of the super.natural base layer are light weight yet warm and designed with breathability for low and high intensity activities. I used the long sleeved top as a base layer and by itself while hiking, running, and as casual wear. The top worked perfectly for each type of outing, and the tights were great underneath my hiking and running pants as well as for camping. I will also use them under my lined ski pants when the snow finally starts falling.
Both the long sleeved top and the base layer tights are sized appropriately and fit perfectly. The long sleeved top Caviar (blackish) color makes it very versatile. The base layer tights came in purple although they looked more blue.
