Mountain Hardwear Pyxis Jacket Review
Mountain Hardwear bills the Pyxis jacket as a lightweight fleece jacket that flatters the body with feminine lines and athletic fit. True, but the Pyxis is so much more! On brisk fall days it acts as the perfect stand alone jacket, and when the temperature starts to drop just throw a shell over it and you’re good to go.
Since I have a longer torso most jackets tend to be short and boxy , but I was pleasantly surprised when I put the Pyxis on and it came down past my hip bones (I wear a medium). I like my jackets to be a little longer since I use them a lot in the backcountry and don’t like cold winds on my backside. That being sad, more average size mediums might find this jacket a tad long.
The jacket outlines the body nicely, creating a nice feminine silhouette. The feel of the fabric separates this jacket from similar items, feeling more like soft fur than traditional fleece. Made of a Voluptuous Velboa (100% polyester) fleece, the Pyxis is super soft to the touch inside and out as well as being highly wind resistant. The hand pockets zip close to secure any item held within and are lined with fleece to provide warmth to your hands. Dual drawcords located at the hem let you quickly cinch the jacket to you to keep out drafts. Whether running errands around town or using it as a layering piece on the slopes, Mountain Hardwear’s Pyxis jacket will envelope you in warmth.
