A few of my counterparts here at Active Gear Review have reviewed various garments from Skida for Winter. I finally got my hands on a Skida product, the Nordic Headband, following Outdoor Retailer last month. So far, I am in love with the Nordic Headband. As the folks at Skida say, “the Nordic Headband is our most versatile piece,” and I couldn’t agree more.
Skida Nordic Headband Fabric and Uses
The Skida Nordic Headband features a moisture-wicking poly blend fabric, making it perfect for activities when you generate some sweat. I’ve been wearing the Nordic Headband while running, cross country skiing, backcountry ski tours, and under my helmet during ski days at the resort. No matter the scenario, I have not been disappointed with the sweat catching, breathability, and warmth that the Nordic Headband features.
Thee Nordic Headband is simply double layer poly-blend fabric; making it lightweight enough for fall to spring use. If you want a thicker layer, then check out the Alpine Headband, which features a fleece lining. My ears have been plenty toasty when doing aerobic activities with temps down into the upper teens.
The Skida Nordic Headband is one size fits most. I have a small-ish head, wearing a small Women’s ski and bike helmet. The Skida Nordic Headband was a tad loose, but stayed put during activity, which leads me to believe that it should work for most ladies noggins. I really liked the width of the headband, as it covers the ears with ease but does not provide a lot of bulk like a Buff tends to when rolled to a headband.
Nordic Headband Style
The gals over at Skida do an incredible job of keeping the patterns fresh and fun. I tested out the Headband in the Catalina print, which I love. I have gotten compliments from my running group gals too! There are 32 different patterns to select from, some geared for men as well. You are bound to find a print that matches your style.
Like all products by Skida, the Nordic Headband is proudly made in the USA in Vermont. The construction is sound and the headband is easy to care for; simply throw in the wash with your base layers and let it air dry in a few hours. It is available for purchase at www.backcountry.com/skida. If you are looking for a bomber hat, then please check out the following reviews of the Skida Alpine and Nordic Hats.
