After some extreme anticipation, here are our first impressions on Eddie Bauer’s First Ascent Igniter Jacket. The Igniter Jacket is a versatile PrimaLoft piece that is bound to come in handy in numerous outdoor pursuits. The Igniter Jacket has a helmet compatible hood, weights a mere 18.3 oz, and packs down into a small stuff sac. The PrimaLoft One insulation kept us warm even when the jacket was wet. The Igniter can be layered with a soft-shell, such as the Frontpoint jacket also by First Ascent or worn by itself as a belay or base jacket. The Igniter has easy pull draw cords at the neck and waist to keep out the elements and a DWR finish that makes it truly water resistant. We loved the three outer pockets lined with fleece to keep your hands cozy. The jacket also comes with and inner zip pocket to store valuables and a fleece lined collar for added comfort. Tester’s felt the Igniter had a perfect tailored-fit and long arms for full upper extremity movement. Tester’s felt that this jacket is an excellent piece and a great re-entry of First Ascent and Eddie Bauer into the outdoor market. Thanks for this review! Eddie Bauer doesn’t list the weight of the jacket on their website. I bought one of these and love it for backpacking and hiking. Fantastic quality, deal, features & fit!
Happy trails 🙂
