With four skiers in the family, gearing up in the parking lot is nothing but chaos. Every time we pile out of the car, I find myself thinking there has to be a better way. Luckily, there is and the answer is RigStrips. RigStrips is a creative company that has clearly thought through the everyday problems outdoor enthusiasts face and designed innovative solutions to solve them.
RigStrips is a relatively new company, but its origin story will sound familiar to just about every skier or rider. It started with a pair of skis sliding off a car, leading to chipped edges and a scratched vehicle, and eventually to a Shark Tank proposal. From that frustration, the SnoStrip was born. Since then, this simple but effective product has been keeping skis upright and organized while gearing up at the car. The creators of RigStrips did not stop with one good idea. Thoughts on the RigStrips Products
My first thought when I tried these products was, “Where have these been my whole life?” I can’t count how many times they would have come in handy. One fishing trip ended early when three fly rods fell into the car door. Another time on a ski trip, a slippery snowboard slid down and left a foot-long gouge in my car paint. I haven’t had as much use out of the SunStrip yet, but it is equally impressive. Frozen lakes and hunting season kept it on the sidelines, but I can already see how useful it will be on windy days. Leaning an expensive fly rod or rifle against the car can easily become precarious. One of my biggest fears is a rifle slipping off and damaging the scope, which could ruin a hunting trip or even a season.
I have been able to test the SunStrip at the shooting range. It held the rifle perfectly, keeping it safe and secure. For safety, no loaded rifle should ever be leaned like this. The SunStrip is only for unloaded rifles with the safety engaged. I can’t wait for bike and fly fishing season, where I expect to use it multiple times a week to keep expensive equipment out of the way while gearing up.

The Big F***ing Tote is a game changer for packing for skiing and ice fishing. It keeps all of the gear in one place so nothing gets left behind. Ski gear in particular like goggles, mittens, helmets, neck gaiters, hand warmers, socks, sunscreen for four people can be easy to forget in the chaos of loading up. The tote keeps it all organized.
Everything Is In There
The tote nearly fits everything we need for skiing, though my large ski boots sometimes need to be packed separately. With all of this gear in one bag, the tote can get heavy, but the rope handles are perfect for lifting. The durability is impressive. The tarpaulin material is robust and feels built to last, and both the rope handles and shoulder strap are oversized and sturdy. The bag is also highly water resistant. On a wet ice fishing trip, snacks and extra clothing stayed dry the entire time.
