Kenu Phone Accessories

Kenu hails from the tech-savy city of San Francisco; A rather progressive forward thinking part or our great nation where technological innovation meets a cool and active urban vibe. Protecting our very important smartphone devices ranks very high on the list for many of us. Kenu takes the work/life balance very serious, and has created a cool simple yet effective product for us allowing us to take along our technology on our outdoor adventures.

The Kenu Stance

MSRP: $24.95

A compact tripod for I-phone 5, 5s, 5c, and 6.  The Kenu Stance is a handy little gadget that will make my life much easier. I am always out and about playing in my Rocky Mountain Backyard enjoying the beauty, but also testing a myriad of gear. This will allow me to take some amazing panoramas as well as portraits to capture the moment.

I do not have the latest and greatest I-phone, but this stance works great with my I-phone 5c. Even so, my unfortunate natural tendency of being clumsy has me sporting a pretty serious case, the Otterbox. That takes away the ability for the stance to completely and securely fasten to the phone.  That said, it will and has worked for me, and I will continue to use it as I test and review gear in some extreme situations. Removing the case, as shown in the photo below is the correct and proper way to use it.

Here I am trying to set up a shot to show the grip of some hiking shoes while crossing a small river. This was always much trickier with either my Canon Rebel, or wedging my phone up with some rocks.  And what do you know?  The Kenu Stance will open your adult beverage if you happen to be so lucky to be able to enjoy a cold one when out and about.

The Kenu Airframe

MSRP: $24.95

The Kenu Airframe is a portable Car Mount that will keep your information handy and available without having to shove it in one of your cupholes or amidst change. My phone usually slides in between my seat and the console, so this Airframe was perfect to keep my phone within reach for my navigation purposes.

As mentioned previously, I do have an Otterbox case on my phone, and the Kenu Airframe fits that just fine. If you do need to take the phone out periodically, the Airframe does require two hands to place and remove.  The sliding mechanism needs to be opened with one while you position the phone with the other. Taking both hands off the wheel is not something you want to be doing too often.  However, removing the phone and airframe from the vent is actually something that will work. Yes, you do have a slightly larger unit, but it slides easily from the vent while staying securely in place when not having to use the phone.

If you don’t have a case, the phone slides in much easier, and still holds it securely in place. This is a piece of equipment that has found a home in my car for sure.

The Kenu Highline

MSRP: $24.95 for Iphone 5. $29.95 for Iphone 6. $34.95 for Iphone 6 plus

The Kenu Highline is a perfect companion for any on-the-go activities. It’s a security leash to serve as a back-up for those butterfinger moments. I have dropped my phone, but have been fortunate that it wasn’t 60 feet up on a ski chair lift or hiking a ridge.  The box has a lady hanging from a trolley in what does appear to be San Francisco, and she can do so with the security that her phone will not be a total loss if dropped. A few weeks ago, I was in Washington D.C., and some girl dropped her phone into a narrow slot of a small reflecting pond at the Korean War Memorial. It was quite a scene, and all I could think of was that the Highline would have prevented all that.

My intent had been to use the phone skiing, but I missed the boat on that as the season is wrapping up. No worries though, I will still be able to put this to good use come summer.  I bike commute my little ones to school, and the Kenu Highline has been great.  My wife tends to always call for some last minute instructions, and I did drop the phone once.  Saved by the Bell… or Highline in this case.  I don’t think this will be a daily add-on to my phone, but for any active outdoor activity I will surely bring the Kenu Highline Security Leash along.

The plastic case is rather simple, and the clip slides into the Charging Porthole. It then clips onto your belt loop or pack or where you can find something to loop this through.

Final Thoughts on The Kenu Phone Accessories

The Kenu line of phone accessories have a clean design, and satisfy a lot of functional requirements that I look for in my outdoor equipment. If you want to keep your precious phones safe from drops, falls, or any of a dozen other possibilities, then the Kenu product line will be something you want to look at for your daily or activity needs.
